Our maintenance team are essential to keeping our equipment serviced and running so that we can consistently provide great quality and excellent service, we are looking for a new Maintenance Engineer working 5 days out of 6 on a rotating shift pattern of Monday-Saturday on the AM shift and Monday-Friday on the PM shift.


In this role you will be part of the team responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery through routine maintenance and repairs, to assist with improved production facilities and reduced incidences of breakdowns. You will also get to work on small projects as we look to improve and make modifications to the way we do things.

You will help to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.


  • Working to site maintenance strategies, procedures and methods to ensure that breakdowns are kept to a minimum and all repairs and maintenance is achieved in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Diagnosing and remedying breakdown issues and prioritise all responses.
  • Ensuring that fixtures, fittings and equipment are maintained to an agreed standard.
  • Assisting with the procurement of fixtures, fittings and other items as required.
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety requirements are being met in all areas of the site and reporting any issues to the Manager.
  • Be on standby for call out arrangements in line with agreed departmental procedures.
  • Assisting with the supervision of on-site contractors to ensure compliance with Fairfax Meadow policies on Food Safety and Health & Safety.
  • Complying with Company Policies on Food Safety and Health & Safety when carrying out duties throughout the site.


  • Qualified Electrical and Mechanical experience and preferably time served
  • Knowledge of 3-phase motors, chains/belts/drives, gearboxes, power distribution and control circuitry
  • Knowledge of Slicing Machines, Vacuum Systems e.g. Thermoformers, conveyoring, check weighters and mixers (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of brands such as Handtmann, Vemag and Cryovac (advantageous)
  • Food production background (preferred)
